Disappointment

What is it about boys?

And particularly, boys when they say (on the bringing up of the subject of buying jewellery):

"I was going to buy you some jewellery earlier today.

But I didn't."

Does the man think this earns him points: Joe didn't even think of buying you jewellery - I'm better than that because I considered the possibility (even though I didn't).
I am not convinced by the reasoning.

I think Pierre has somehting there--maybe men think that saying things like this earns them points.

It's the only explanation I can think of.

*enormous rolling of eyes*

I think that's true. He was hoping to demonstrate how thoughtful he is.

In a fucked up sort of a way.
